The Blessing Of The Lord Maketh Rich

by Apostle Albert Phelps

Many of the poorest, sickest and unhappiest people in the world today are church people that are not receiving God’s blessing in their lives. Have you ever wondered why people who attend church regularly, singing and praying each week, are still poor, sick, suffering, and unhappy? If it’s not sickness, it’s drugs, if it’s not a money problem, it’s a marriage problem. What are the answers to these problems? Does God care or does He just say He cares and lets His people continue to suffer? I will prove to you, by the word of God, that the blessing of God makes us rich, well, and happy, and that He adds no sorrow to us. God wants you to understand His love and be delivered from the snares of the devil. God’s spirit must be manifested in the lives of the people who have confessed that they are His children. Being poor, sick, or unhappy never glorifies God. The word of God says, “He raiseth up the poor out of the dust and lifteth up the beggar from the dung hill to set them among princes and make them inherit the throne of glory...” (I Sam. 2:8). “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich and He addeth no sorrow with it.” (Prov. 10:22). “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just” (Prov. 13:22). “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 2). These scriptures are evidence that as children of God, we shouldn’t live as if our lives are falling apart. God wants us to have the best that life has to offer and He is the only one that can provide us with these desires. Certainly, anyone with common sense knows that God wouldn’t say these things if He wanted us poor, sick, and unhappy. God has no respect of person. Read further and see what God said, “And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods in the fruit of the body... The Lord shall open unto thee His good treasure... and thou shall lend unto many nations and thou shalt not borrow... the Lord shall make thee the head and not the tail, and thou shalt be above only and thou shalt not be beneath; if thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them” (Deut. 28:11-13). Now, what scripture can a child of God use to justify being poor, sick, or unhappy? Some might say, “Well, Jesus was a poor man.” This would not be a true statement. The bible says, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich” (2 Cor. 8:9). Jesus Christ dealt with every issue, at every level of humanity to prove to all that they could become rich, healthy, and happy. For the blessing of the Lord makes us rich. Hallelujah!! Time and time again the word of God warns us that sickness and poverty does not glorify the Lord. “But he was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed” (Isa. 53:5). “Is there any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up...” (James 5:14-15). “And the whole multitude sought to touch Him: for there went virtue out of Him: and healed them all” (St. Luke 6:19). “...for I am the Lord that healeth thee” (Ex. 15:26). “ Who forgiveth all thine iniquities, who healeth all thy diseases" (Psalm 103:3). This is the word of God to you. Some will say, “Well, that’s for those people in the days of old.” Bless God! My Bible says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever “ (Heb.13:8). Your sickness is a curse according to the word of God, and God wants all curses off of his children. The Bible says, “The Lord will smite thee with a consumption, and with a fever and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning...the Lord shall smite thee with emerods, and with the scab and with the itch, whereof thou canst not be healed” (Deut. 28:22-27). Many people have been smitten by God with sickness and disease because they refuse to obey the commandments of God. However, God heals through faith, and faith comes through hearing the word of God. The blessings of the Lord makes you rich and healthy. They do not make you sick. So many of today’s church people are unhappy. Just look and listen to your fellow man. They mumble about this and complain about that. They smoke cigarettes, they take drugs, they drink liquor and they curse God. Don’t they know that misery loves company. They know what Jesus said, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God believe also in me” (St. John 14:1). Sin is the cause of unhappiness. God said, “Offer unto God thanksgiving, and pay thy vows unto the most high: And call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me” (Ps. 50:14-15). “Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me but ye say, wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me...” (Malachi 3:8-9). Your money has a lot to do with your happiness. What you do with it and how you spend it will either bring blessings or curses. Every individual in the bible that was happy offered unto God thanksgiving, and paid their vows unto God. How about you? Are you paying your vows unto God? There is only one way to pay God. That is, you must hear and accept the word of God in faith. You must, “...Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38). The blessing of the Lord maketh you rich, healthy and happy; and he addeth no sorrow to it.
